Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. Birth Trauma Resolution therapy is solution focussed. It combines proven therapeutic techniques with an understanding of neuroscience to heal trauma safely and quickly. This can often be achieved in 1-3 sessions
Q. What happens during a session?
A.- I will listen to your experience in a sympathetic and non-judgemental way
- I will formulate a personalised treatment plan
- I will teach you simple breathing techniques to help you relax and reduce symptoms of anxiety straight away and for daily use
-I offer a totally unique and personalised guided visualisation and relaxation download to listen to after the session
-The techniques will remove the strong negative emotions attached to the traumatic memory so that you can remember what happened without feelings of anxiety or panic
-Once we have dealt with your birth trauma, if other previous traumas surface, we are able to release these too
-I will help you rebuild confidence after the trauma
-I will help you rebuild your relationships and get your life back on track, symptom free
-I use a number of techniques including the REWIND technique guided visualisation and applied Human Givens techniques. Birth Trauma Resolution is not counselling.
Q. Do you treat fathers, birth companions and staff?
A. Yes. We are trained to work with mothers, fathers and birth companions. We also offer treatment to health care practitioners such as midwives, obstetricians and any healthcare professionals who may be suffering from vicarious trauma after witnessing or listening to the horrors of a traumatic birth and experience.
Q. Can everyone receive treatment?
A. It is contraindicated for anyone with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or psychosis to be treated for perinatal trauma using our methods. If you suffer from epilepsy or are bipolar I would need to consult your GP prior to treatment
Q. What if I am unsure if I have trauma?
A. I can assess for trauma & PTSD so please get in touch if you are unsure
Q. Will I receive midwifery advice as part of the treatment?
A. No. I am a former registered midwife and am no longer registered to practice. Please refer to your midwife, obstetrician or health visitor if you have any clinical concerns about yourself or your baby
Q. How much does a session cost?
A. Sessions lasts 90 minutes and costs £75
Q. What if I cannot afford this treatment?
A. We offer a low income clinic for those on income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Incapacity Benefit. Proof of eligibility will be requested and a waiting list may apply. The charge for this clinic is only £30 for the first session and £20 per hour thereafter
Q. Where do the sessions take place?
A. I work from a clinic in Southampton. Due to potential connectivity issues it is not safe to carry out this treatment via Skype
Q. What is the cancellation policy
A. Please note that once an appointment has been confirmed, we request at least 48 hours advance notice for any cancellations. The full cost of the appointment will be charged when you miss or cancel an appointment without giving 48 hours advanced notice. In special circumstances, requests for a refund will be considered on a case by case basis, subject to any venue or travel costs and after administrative costs. Evidence of these circumstances may be asked for and any refund is at the sole discretion of Birth Trauma Hampshire. If the cancelled appointment is filled, a full refund minus admin costs will be offered.
